  1. Recognize the recent advances in our understanding of alopecia areata pathogenesis, in particular the role that immune privilege dysfunction plays in driving the aberrant inflammatory pathways that lead to disordered hair follicle cycling
  2. Become conversant in emerging molecularly targeted therapeutics for alopecia areata, with a focus on Janus kinase–signal transducer and activator of transcription (JAK-STAT) pathway inhibitors
  3. Become familiar with new tools to guide patient assessment and treatment management
